Approximately three months ago my husband and I found out that we were going to have a baby. The above image is from our first sonogram, taken at 10-weeks of pregnancy. We both thought the baby looked a lot like a dancing Gummi Bear, so the nick-name stuck...at least until we find out if it's a girl or a boy.
Since our 10-week sonogram we have had a 12-week Nuchal Translucency sonogram, which measures a part of the baby's neck to determine the possibility of the baby having Down Syndrome. The scan and corresponding blood-work came back well within the normal ranges. Neither my husband, nor I, were concerned. The scan was precautionary, due to the fact that I'm in my early 30's.
Right now I am in my 13th week of pregnancy. I have a little less than 2 months to go before we can find out if we're having a girl or a boy. The wait will be hard, but that'll just make finding out that much more fun.
My first month of pregnancy was pretty much symptom-free, but my second and third months of pregnancy were plagued with terrible "morning sickness". For me it was "all-day sickness", to the point where my doctor put me on prescription anti-nausea medication so I could keep food and water down. I have also been quite tired, sleeping 10hrs (on average) every night, and occassionally napping during the day. My endurance has been low from almost day-one of this pregnancy...but it makes sense when you think of all my body is going through to manufacture another human.
Now that I'm entering my fourth month of pregnancy things are calming down. I'm sick less and less, and not as reliant on the anti-nausea medication as I once was. I'm also looking forward to the energy boost that most sources promise to come during the second trimester.
Well, that's about it for now...I'll write more when I have more to write about.
